What components make up a roof and what is their role?

After completing the main structure, before installing the roof covering, the process of layering insulation materials and membranes begins. The correct order of these materials is essential:

• Vapor barrier membrane - its main function is to ventilate insulation and protect it from moisture. It also prevents dust from mineral wool from entering the interior space.

• Insulation material - helps maintain indoor temperature and significantly reduces heating and cooling costs.

• Roof (diffusion) membrane - protects both the roof and insulation from condensation. Without it, moisture buildup can damage both layers.

• Roofing material - besides aesthetics, it’s important to consider thickness and technical specifications. Nova’s consultants can guide you in detail.
